Ashland, Oregon

Tuesday, 7/17

Another milestone: I reached mile 1700 today. This means I have hiked 200 miles on the PCT so far this year!

I have less than 400 miles to go! Damn, if only my feet hold out. πŸ˜–

I made I-5 today! Still somewhat hazy and HOT! Now to hitch to Ashland, OR.

One more thing, the PCT has a fire closure northeast of I-5. Callahans has a nice notice board out front, so I will be skipping 16 miles of trail and entering the PCT on Oregon hwy-66.

Staying in Ashland: The Hostel was full and the hotels downtown were pricy! $$$$ I ended up away from downtown at the Super-8 near the fwy. $73/nite is much better than $145+ and it’s really close to an Albertsons supermarket.

Someone said the fire victims were staying at some of them. Dunno.

Anyway, I’m not staying an extra day in Ashland; too expensive. I’ve got food, the hotel has laundry and I’m showered.

I checked and a taxi from my hotel to trail on Hwy-66 is estimated at about $50. 😳 It is what it is.

Hopefully I’ll get back on trail by late morning before noon.

This is Callahans and my sleeping on the lawn in Seiad:
