Day 3 towards Etna

My Birthday had one final high point. I passed through a road crossing and found Trail Magic! This guy, Dennis offered me an Apple. Dennis is “Day Hiking the PCT”. As a retired schoolteacher he lives out of his van and does day hikes “up to 10 miles”. He’s been doing this for 6 years and has hiked quite a bit of the PCT. Nice guy.

It was delicious. 😄

Tuesday, 7/3

Blisters. Oh, how I hate you.

I did just under 15 miles on Tuesday and was looking at 18 today. But I called it quits at just over 14. Got some blisters on both feet to treat. This on top of sore shoulders, back and legs.

Just breaking the old body back in. 😝

AT&T cell service is awesome. I’m 7,000ft up on a ridge and still have LTE and two bars. I expect that to change as I continue.

Some nice shots of Mt Shasta as I’m slowly leaving it behind as I head west.

  1. Hi Michael, We met years ago at Ned Tippits snow class. I have had problems using Word Press in the pass, but i now finally have it worked out. Nice to see you back on the trail and taking it slow and easy. Give it 3 to 4 weeks and you will have your cadence down. I have been hiking the trails as usual. I got hooked back in 2008 when i thru hiked the PCT. Its now in my system and every year i look for new challenges. May i make a recommendation for next year. Check out the Colorado Trail. Its a 500 miler with 28 sections. Starts in Denver and ends in Durango. Yogi trail guides have ll the information. Happy Trails
