Lake Morena Day-3

Another grey morning, but still nice being here.

Today is the last day of the KO. More seminars today:

  • Hiker Yoga: I tried… 😒
  • PCTA update, Trail Conditions
  • Water Report
  • PCT Flora/Fauna
  • Avoiding Injuries
  • Gear Contest (???)
  • Geology of the PCT
  • Group Photo (Immortalized!)
  • Video Tips
  • Raffle

We had a few hours of no rain, then the storm caught up. We could all least take the Class Picture before the deluge started.

Right now most everyone is squeezed into the community center where it’s dry and listening to video tips. Next, the lottery. I purchased 15 tickets for $20. Annnnnnd…nutten. 😞

Observation: After three days of rain the ground is saturated. Today the winds kicked in and it was a good test of tents and the people using them.  The fancy untralight “Tarp” tents didn’t fare well, yet again. My solid Big Agnus Copper Spur is up and dry inside. Well worth the extra pound of weight.  It’s hard listening to my neighbors moan about their wet sleeping bags and not comment. Ah, well…they’re lucky it’s not a cold night.

Having trouble finding a ride BACK to Idyllwild or ideally to Palm Desert. Still working that angle.

    1. Wow, the group looks small this year. Was there in 2008 and we were definitely bigger. Love your blog. I am old too. Will follow with enthusiasm. Keep hiking
